Aleena and Sarim from Central Park Primary School become two of our very first Fellows of East London Children’s University, recognising an awesome achievement of over 1,000 hours in extra curricular activities. Standing in front of 300 guests, Sarim and Aleena confidently spoke about the impact that Children’s University has had growing up, they spoke about the opportunities they had experienced and Aleena mentioned that her love of horses had grown following a Children’s University opportunity.
Over 70 young children from 6 primary schools in East London celebrated reaching Children’s University milestones at a ceremony held at Brampton Manor Academy. Dressed in graduation gowns and mortarboards, children from Brampton, Central Park, Curwen, Nelson, Parkhill Junior and Vicarage Primary Schools celebrated in front of proud friends and family.
‘Aleena had always been very enthusiastic about Children’s University. In an attempt to collect as many hours as possible, CU has pushed her to collect more and more experiences. Sarim has followed the same course, and it’s given their family a great bonding time too. It’s so amazing to see that they can’t wait for the next graduation ceremony. Central Park Primary School is very proud of them and CU for bringing this much needed positive change to Newham.’

We were also joined by Marion Faust MBE who presented the eager graduates with their certificates and inspired children to seek learning opportunities everywhere.
“I am always so excited to be asked to present the certificates to children at the Children’s University Graduation. The achievement of the young people is amazing, their enthusiasm is inspiring and their smiles and those of their families is heartwarming. To see children as young as Aleena and Sarim who have grown in confidence, speaking so clearly and fluently to a large audience is brilliant. These young people are the future, not just of Newham but our country, we should be proud.”
Marion Faust, MBEThe ceremony concluded with Children being introduced to the Mayor of London’s World of Work Family Trails, our newest Learning Destination. Families were encouraged to continue collecting stamps in their passports during the Summer with a range of exciting Children’s University validated activities.
