Landing STEM Jobs at LCY

Date
01.03.2018

On Thursday 15th March, 70 Level 3 Science Students from Newham College benefited from an exciting introductory lecture about STEM careers at London City Airport (LCY).

Anna from LCY introduced students to the airport, including ‘CADP’ the City Airport Development Programme and gave an introduction to STEM jobs available. 15billionebp also gave a presentation about labour market information in Newham.
CADP will create 1,500 new jobs in the airport and its partner businesses, and an extra 500 jobs in the construction phase. There is a potential direct contribution to the UK economy of £1.5bn by 2023.

I have good understanding of how to find a job and it was great to find out that there are other parts of construction other than building

The session prompted the students to think about careers in STEM and more specifically roles at LCY. The session received a great response from the students with many asking questions to gather more information in STEM careers.

The successful session will continue in April 2018, where LCY will welcome students to the airport for a deeper insight into aviation careers.
