This year 40 mentors from Macfarlanes have been partnered with Year 10 students from three Newham schools; providing support, guidance and inspiration at this crucial stage in their personal and educational journeys.
I know how much of a difference having someone to listen and advise can make to a person’s self-confidence and self-belief.
Macfarlanes MentorStudents from Cumberland School, Eastlea Community School, and Forest Gate Community school have been partnered with a mentor from Macfarlanes for the full academic year. Through a series of focused face-to-face meetings and regular email communications, students will work towards personal, academic and career-related goals with the help of their dedicated mentors.
Each year Macfarlanes mentors work with students from Newham Secondary schools; not only to give them an insight into working life at a law firm, but also to support them through a hugely important stage in their lives. As well as working towards set goals, students develop other important employability skills such as time management, written and verbal communication, and responsibility.
