Year 8 Students Discover What’s Happening in Their Newham

Date
01.01.2018

Year 8 students from Brampton Manor Academy took part in the first of a series of three pioneering workshops in partnership with KPMG on Monday 29th January 2018. Students found out more about the range of developments taking place in Newham, and considered what this might mean for their futures.

Gifted and Talented students from Brampton Manor Academy’s Year 8 cohort take part annually in this three-part programme, supported by KPMG. This year the chosen theme is ‘Our Newham’; reflecting the rapid changes taking place in our London borough. From The International Quarter London development, to London City Airport’s expansion, students engaged impressively in a range of activities.

I will use these skills in interviews and to become wiser about Newham

As well as raising awareness of the local labour market, students were encouraged to critically reflect on what these changes might mean for the future of their community. Furthermore, through engaging with forward-thinking KPMG volunteers, students had the unique opportunity to develop their networking, communication, and research skills. The programme continues in April and May this year.
